I know it sounds crazy, but baking soda alone can actually be used in a MULTITUDE of different ways around your home!!š Baking soda is environmentally friendly, non-toxic to people, has deodorizing qualities... and most importantly, very cost-effective!!š¤©
Here are 15 uses for baking soda that have nothing to do with cookingš

Coffee Maker: Mix a cup of water with 1/4 cup of baking soda and run it through a single cycle of your coffee machine. Flush the system again with a couple cycles of hot water until the water turns clear! Enjoy your fresh cup of coffee with your newly flushed out machine!āļø

Refrigerator: If your fridge is starting to smell a little funky.... Baking soda is your new best friend. Place an open container of baking soda in there and it will absorb ALL the odors. This is especially useful for fishy smellsš

Stovetop: Is your stove looking a bit stained and greasy?šµāš« Mix equal parts baking soda and warm water in a bowl until it turns into a paste. Spread the paste on to any particularly stained areas, or any burnt on food, and cover with a warm, damp towel. Let this sit for 15-30 minutes, and then wipe the spot clean!!š³

Vegetables/Fruits: Okay, I lied. This one maybe has a little to do with cooking but bear with meš You can use baking soda to wash off produce (instead of commercial cleaners that may contain a lot of chemicalsš ). Just fill a bowl of cold water and add in 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda. Soak the produce and gently scrub them to remove any dirt and residue. Rinse thoroughly and enjoy!!šš„¦

Grout: Create a paste with equal parts baking soda and warm water (optional: add in some hydrogen peroxide if your grout is really dirty!). Apply the paste onto the grout with a scrub brush and scrub away that gunk!!š§½

Mattress: If you want to freshen up your mattress (or a dog bed!!), evenly sprinkle some baking soda on it to deodorize it! Let it sit for 20-30 minutes and then vacuum it up!šļø

Sponges/Brushes: Refreshen your cleaning sponges/brushes by soaking them in a mixture of warm water with a 1/4 cup of baking soda! This will eliminate odors, remove residue and keep them useful for longer!!š¤©

Sports Gear: If your kiddo's sports bag is smelling a little gross (let's be honest, it definitely is...š), sprinkle a bit of baking soda at the bottom to neutralize the odor!!

Carpet: In the same way as freshening up your mattress, you can do it with carpet!! This is especially helpful if you have pets that have had accidents on your beautiful rug or the ONE carpeted area of your home.š Sprinkle some baking soda and let sit for at least 30 minutes (or however long you feel necessary!) and then vacuum it up! Dogs will mark on the same spots where they can smell urine over and over again, so it is crucial you get those spots odor free!!š¶

Gum Remover: If you ever get gum stuck in your hair or on furniture, never fear!!š± Take a spoonful of baking soda and mix a little bit of water with it to make a thick paste. Apply to the effected area and let it sit for a few minutes. The baking soda will neutralize the stickiness in the gum, making it easier to remove!š¤Æ

Crayon Remover: Have you ever walked into a room and realized your child drew with a crayon all over the wall?š You may freak out at first, but don't worry!! Sprinkle some baking soda on a warm damp cloth and gently scrub away to remove any markings!š
NOTE: This only works for shiney, flat, NON-TEXTURED walls!! Do not attempt on any sort of textured wall or it could end up ruining it!! See picture for reference and learn from my mistakeš

Laundry: Baking soda can be added directly to your washing machine along with whatever your regular laundry detergent is!! Depending on the size of your load and the level of soil, toss in a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of baking soda to enhance the power of your detergent and neutralize odors!!š§ŗ Also, if you want to run a fully white load of laundry, baking soda can be used to brighten white clothes to keep them looking fresh and vibrant!š¤

Drains: Clean your drains by pouring 1/2 cup of baking soda down it, followed immediately by hot water! This will effectively flush everything out and deodorize any odors! This method could also help you unclog minor blockagesš° (Note: For more severe clogs, this might not be as effective and you may need more professional help!)

Cutlery: If your cutlery is look a little dull, try making a paste with 3 parts baking soda to 1 part warm water. Apply the paste generously with a soft cloth and gently rub it in! Once the cutlery is fully covered, you can let it sit for a few minutes if it's being particularly stubborn, or you can simply rinse and dry!š“

Flowers: Preserve the life of your flowers by adding a pinch of baking soda to the water vase!! Just cut off the ends and add all the flowers to the vase. You can repeat this process of cutting, and refreshing the water with baking soda as necessary!š·

And there are SO many other uses for baking soda!! You can clean practically anything with a bit of baking soda (maybe some vinegar every once in awhile) and some good ole scrubbingš
